This week we were fortunate enough to welcome into our classroom Claire Sparling. (Visit her website : http://csparling.ca/) Claire is textile artist. She designs costumes and clothing. She talked to our class about using textiles to represent things and preferences. The students were asked to represent themselves using shape, colour and texture.
Here's what they came up with :
The students were very proud of their projects. Here's what a few of them had to said :
- It was fun. I like to do arts and crafts. I got to make clothes on a doll and stick fabric on. - Bella
- It gave me an artistic idea. When I grow up I want to be an artistic girl. It was a cool project because I got to pick material with cool designs. - Haley
- Fun. Interesting that you can get your feelings out and people get to know you by what you like, what you do, like your hobbies. - Aidan
- Spread your feelings, do what you want. You can do what every you want, what ever you feel like. - Jacob
- It was fun designing was sort of difficult because I have to think of why I picked those designs and colours. - Cael
- It was really fun. It was like Guess Who? You had to guess who was who. - Gracie

Where did September go?
I can't believe we're already well into October. September has been a whirlwind of excitement. We've been busy learning about all sorts of great things.
STEW and FRUIT SALAD
We've made stew and a fruit salad to end our French unit on Fruits and Vegetables.
We have some aspiring chefs! Yummy!
CROSS-COUNTRY
A group of students from our classroom participated in Cross-country running the past few weeks. Congratulations! You all did GREAT!
Let's not forget our trip to the farm. We learned so much and saw even more! Who would have thought that if you chewed wheat grains you could make gum?
